About This Product

Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' is very popular as a foreground plant in the aquarium trade. Hemianthus callitrichoides has very small leaves and grows in a spreading fashion making it one of the shortest options for a foreground plant. For optimal growth from Dwarf Baby Tears, as it is sometimes referred to, use high lighting and CO2 injections. Plant several pots through the desired area and watch them spread to form a dense foreground carpet. If you aren't as patient purchase Hemianthus callitrichoides grown on the coco fiber mats for an instant foreground.

    Love this plant!

I have never grown DBT before until now but any tank i have seen them in, I have loved it. My shrimp and fish are in heaven. The only thing at this time is my rainbow shark is tearing them up a bit as they are not fully rooted in yet. I am not running CO2 but what I do have is fluorite substrate, dosing Seachem flourish excel daily, root tabs and dosing ferts weekly. I have a 50 gal with Finnex 24/7 led lighting. I've had these plants for about 3 weeks now and are doing great! Shipping was excellent. I first originally chose UPS 2nd day air, before my shipment was sent out I was contacted by email asking if I would like to upgrade my shipping method to 1 day air, I agreed due to the high temps for this time of the year. It was well worth the few extra dollars for shipping to guarantee the plants in healthy condition. Over all great plants, great service and will definitely recommend and purchase from this site again.

I ordered quite a few plants - this is the only one that arrived dead. I ordered 2 mats and both looked like cooked spinach and smelled terrible. I tried to put them in an extra tank to see if I could bring it back to life, but there wasn't a single live node on either mat. I'm thinking this may be a delicate shipper so make sure you watch your weather and do next day shipping.

Arrived to Me in Great Shape but It Still Died

I really like the look of this plant but I don't know how to get it to root properly. My upside down catfish loved this stuff. They kept burrowing under it (this didn't help the plant obviously). But I think this plant won't grow without CO2 injection and T5 lamps.

    Most Fav!

Posted by GengSF on Jul 19th 2012

I ordered about 10 different kinds, this Baby Tears MAT is my most favourite overall, the size and quality. They're very dense that makes it looks bigger than actual size. the mat works great for shipping.

Gorgeous carpet and excellent transport method

I can't review the hardiness of this plant because I've only had it 36 hours, but I can say that it is awesome so far! When I opened the package, I was surprised at the generous size of the plant on the mat. It looks amazing! I was told it required 4 to 5 watts per gallon; my system only provides 2, but I have an additional system on the way. I hope it survives until I get it because it's great!

    Happy with baby tears

Posted by Angela Wyant on Dec 3rd 2011

The baby tears have been a wonderful addition to my aquarium so far. I got them yesterday (when promised) and they've already grown out some after just 24 hours. They arrived in beautiful condition, hey are very beautiful.. the leaves are very small and fine, and it will make a lovely carpet once they've spread out more.

Ordered 4 of these mats. All I can say is WOW. Thick, densly grown mats were simple to plant, I just pulled away some of the matting material to expose the roots, nestled it into the sustrate, and weighed it down with a little more substrate on top. Instant "carpet"! Way simpler than sticking in individual little plantlets with tweezers!! I'd say this is BY FAR the best way to buy HC And is the only place I've found that has it like this.
