Lots of die back, least new growth

Posted by Thomas G on May 11th 2020

Crypts are notorious for melting back, but the Wendtii Red and Bronze from my order suffered a TON from a new tank. There's new growth already, though, so cutting back and letting it concentrate on new growth ensures a healthy plant.

    Beautiful foreground plant

I bought two of these and they arrived healthy, and a growing well and even have a nice almost plum color on the undersides of the leaves. Just put a couple of root tabs under them and watch them grow!

Ordered 2 pots and knew they coming as immersed-grown plants but it is still disconcerting to watch the beautiful things melt away. I have lost quite a few leaves within about a hoping the roots will survive long enough to grow out the submersed leaves. Requires daily maintenance to trim the melting stems and leaves so I would not recommend placing this plant in a tank with skittish or shy fish until it has fully converted to its submersed form.

Ordered 3 in pots, good roots, nice plants overall. Doing well and hope they color up after they acclimate. Very happy.

    Slow grow

Posted by Yemanou on Mar 14th 2012

Great quality plants, arrived in a pot. In my low tech aquariums these grow much better than other crypts. The texture of the leave is indeed bronze. I have been through several crypt melts which can be frustrating at time.
