Used with our exclusive "Substrate Fertilizer Pellets" we GUARANTEE success. NEW: options to choose from; Black Diamond, Natural Amazon, Red River. Soft Belly Special.  It will not break down or dissolve or turn to mud like others do. Does not cloud water outperforms ALL other planted substrates (guaranteed). We use this with all of our shrimp. No copper.
Granular Size: 1.2mm to 2.8mm

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
We recommend that you rinse the Gro-Pro substrate once before use. The objective is to remove only the fine powder that is a byproduct of when the granules are machine ground. Before filling your aquarium with water, place a piece of cardboard or plastic on top of the substrate to deflect the water as you pour it in. This will prevent the water from churning up the substrate and clouding the water.

The more you rinse the substrate, the more of the fines you are removing. These fines are more readily available to the root of the plant. Thus, rinsing them away is disadvantageous.

NEVER attempt to add substrate to an aquarium that is already filled with water. What will happen is the substrate will stratisfy or layer. The heavy granules will settle at the bottom and the lighter granules will settle at the top.

There are 1000"s of customers currently using this substrate with great success. When used correctly with the AquaFertz pellets, no other product will give these results. This is a guarantee.

The product looks great. I have not planted the tank yet, that will be the real test. Nice big bags of substrate that cover well.

I gave the substrate a light rinse, and my water is still murky. I will do a water change today and may even add a H.O.T. mag. to clear it up. I wish I had rinsed it better.

    Very good plant substrate

Posted by Unknown on Sep 5th 2020

I used this for nano planted tank and bought the smallest bag available. I had a lot left over, so I’m most likely going to use it for my other planted tank too. It looks like small river pebbles in the tank which goes really well with my set up. It’s been a good month or so and I haven’t noticed any cloudiness to the water or any ammonia issues after adding this substrate. I have been testing my water about once a week since adding it just to be safe. I have cardinals in this tank. My plants seem to love it and are growing like crazy.

    BEST SUBSTRATE EVER!!!!!

Posted by SUE H on Oct 13th 2016

I have a dirted/Eco-Complete in a 55. Decent growth, but sooooo mirky when moved. I started my new 75 with Grow-Pro this summer. I gave it a simple rinse, put in tank, and the water was crystal clear within the hour. The substrate is a nice size, good color, siphons easily, and roots the plants thoroughly. It's not too heavy so it doesn't pack down too tightly and trap air gasses either. If you price out the bags of the other plant substrates--especially with shipping--this one wins every time. The 55 has same light PLUS CO2 and the 75 has some of the same plants growing BETTER! I am about to start a third tank (a tall one) with the apons that outgrew the 75. I will definitely be using this substrate in that tank and all tanks going forward!

    AquaDurt.com:Freshwater Planted Aquarium Substrate

Posted by Mike & Gerri on Aug 6th 2013

Bought 5 gal pail for new set up of a 55 gal acrylic aquarium. Make sure you rinse the substrate well before you install it in your aquarium. it may still cloud but will clear in about 12 hours. Had some fine coating on inside surface of the tank but it cleaned easily with a soft cloth. Plants I put in are doing great (new shoots within 2- 3 days on all of my plants).Tank is crystal clear. Substrate is a nice black and contrasts well with my plants. Do not worry if it does not look vey black when dry, it will darken when you wet it. Very happy!!!!

    substrate

I've purchased both the amazon and the soft belly soil. I was pleasantly surprised with how generous the "3 gallons" amount was. I don't know if they pack it down and it loosened during shipping or what, but it was almost twice the amount I needed for a 20H each time. This substrate rinses off quite easily and is not very dusty. Particles of both kinds are very light if you compare it to Seachem's florite. My plants seem to root into it just as well, but it is easy to blow around.

    Best deal

Posted by Robert Trainer on Jun 6th 2012

I Bought a three gallon bucket of the soft belly soil. I Love it! there are different shades in the soil that give it such an awesome look. My plants are rooting nicely and my angelicus loach are in heaven. I will definitely buy more for my 125 gallon very soon. Although be aware this for fish that dig, so it's light. A power head will blow it around.
