About This Product

Cladophora aegagropila is an aquatic moss that is slowly formed into a ball over a long period of time. Originating in very cold rivers and lakes throughout Northern Europe and Japan these Marimo Balls or Moss Balls as they are more commonly take long periods of time to form. Cladophora aegagropila will not cause algae to form in your tank. In fact, Marimo Balls will do the opposite by taking nutrients out of the water. Moss Balls are a different type of algae than those that normally form in an aquarium and are very slow growing. Cladophora aegagropila comes in a range of sizes with the small size in the 3-4 cm range and the XL size in the 8 cm range. Marimo Balls are very easy to decorate with and use for aquascaping.

    They're adorable!

They came moist and dark green with 2 day shipping. One of them had a tiny rip in it but he's doing fine now.

    Wonderful!

Although I was disappointed with much of my order from here, these moss balls were fantastic. They look great and give an almost otherworldly appearance to the tank.

Yes they will get a bit flat to fit into the shipping box but all you do to it is give your new Marimo a hug or two and bang you get a ball . Mine is enormous and loving 70 watts of 8k hqi . Very nice !

Yes it is as big as they say, but mine came damage

I couldn't wait to receive my mega marimo. I ordered it Monday morning, it arrived that Friday. However, the way they shipped it was not the best way to do it. They crammed it into a small UPS box, which resulted in totally smashing it and causing a tear when it regained its normal shape. I tried contacting via email twice, however I found out that email doesn't make it to them (uber-aggressive spam filters). Fortunately, I gave them a call and they totally helped me out. Do yourself a favor and just call them if you have any problems. I spoke to Katie and she was super nice. Thank you Aquariumplants.com
