You won't believe the results until you see with your own eyes !!! Nerite Snails are a perfect natural way to control algae! They will not eat your plants, are easy to maintain, are very hardy, and have a life span of about a year. They will thrive in freshwater, but, will not reproduce and multiply in freshwater, they require brackish water for breeding. Most of our Nerite snails are a plain brown with small white splotches or very subtle stripes.
Aquarium set-up:
Minimum water capacity of five gallons
Keep Rocks/driftwood and vegetation in the tank hosting Nerite Snail.
Give ample space to Nerite Snail to hide and to search for food.
Stocking:Keep one Nerite Snail per 2.50 gallons of aquarium water.
Temperature of water:Maintain the temperature of your tank water between seventy-five and eighty-four degrees Fahrenheit.
pH of water: 6.00 to 8.50.
Aquarium disposition:Owing to its small size, Nerite Snail does not disturb vegetation in your aquarium. Do not keep aggressive invertebrates or aggressive fish with the nerite snail as these animals may eat the snail.
Feeding & Nutrition:
Diet:Nerite Snail is Herbivorous in feeding habit.
Food content:Nerite Snail eats phytoplankton, especially algae, Cyanobacteria, Diatoms, Film Algae and vegetable bits.
Supplements:
Supplement the food of Nerite Snail with the small bits or the flakes of cucumber, blanched spinach and lettuce, and corgette.
Add Calcium as dietary supplements for the shell growth of Nerite Snail.
Introducing/acclimating them to your aquarium:
When receiving an order of freshwater Nerite snails, they will be in a dormant stage upon
arrival. Slowly acclimate them to your aquarium water. Losses will most often not happen or be
at a minimum if you do this properly. It may take up to 24 hours before all the snails begin to
move about, so be patient. When adding them to the tank, after equalizing the temp in the bag to the aquarium temp. Try placing them right side-up. It is a fact, that, they can't turn themselves right side-up. Thus, they will perish.

Great snails
Arrived alive and ready to rock and roll! No deaths after 5 days and they are roaming the tank searching for food. Very pleased with this purchase.

At first I was not sure what will I do with so many snails, but it turned out better than I thought. Snails all came alive and well and started cleaning both aquariums right away. Amazing!

Placed order for NERITE OLIVE SNAILS never received them, called and spoke to someone I was told shipping amount was incorrect and would send request for additional never happened

Nice snails
Ordered 2 snails, received 4, 2 of them seem to have cracks in the shell, but it doesn't seem to bother them a bit. Started moving within 10 minutes of getting into the water, seem very healthy and happy.

unbelievably efficient little workers
I have been struggling with brown diatom algae for months in my 25 gallon. I bought a dozen snails and received about 18. The first night not much happened as they mainly explored the front glass which I keep pretty clean. But over the week-end, wow! In 2 days time all of the glass is sparkling, even the heater tube, my huge zebra rock is pristine and all of the large sword and anubias leaves are clean. We're talking probably 2 dozen 2" wide leaves that were BROWN and are now returned to bright green. I went and bought some sinking algae wafers because these guys are just amazing and I'm going to run out of algae for them really fast.

algae cure: Nerite snails!
My 75 gallon tank is CLEAN AS CRYSTAL, after adding 15 of these nerite snails...they are an unbelievably simple cure..haven't scraped the glass since i put them in, and no cruddy algae growth on plants, rocks, or driftwood.. best thing since sliced bread!

Greedy cleaners
I bought about 14 of them to clean my 20gallon aquarium which has a lot of plants and had black/hair algae all over the glass, plants, heater, and filters. 2 died, the other ones play dead during the day. But after 1 month it's super clean. I just saw in the first weeks areas of algae vanishing over night like someone scrubbed it thoroughly. I highly recommend with java moss (x-mass moss is nice). The moss deprives the algae from nutrients and the nails eat the algae. Sometimes I had to place a snail on a hard to reach plant leaf and it scrubbed it by next day.
