Cryptocoryne Pink Flamingo
Cryptocoryne ‘Pink Flamingo’ is a highly decorative and rare aquarium plant, valued for its vibrant pink foliage. It’s a cultivar of the Cryptocoryne genus, which originates from Asia and is widely used in aquascaping for its unique leaf shapes and adaptability.
Description:
-
Leaf Color: Bright to pale pink, sometimes with speckled or slightly translucent qualities depending on light and nutrients.
-
Leaf Shape: Slightly ruffled, lance-shaped to oval; forms a compact rosette.
-
Size: Typically grows 5–15 cm (2–6 inches) in height, making it suitable for midground or foreground placement in an aquarium.
💡 Growing Conditions:
-
Light: Medium to high light is recommended to enhance the pink coloration.
-
CO₂: CO₂ injection boosts growth and helps maintain the vivid color, though the plant can survive in low-tech setups with slower growth.
-
Substrate: Prefers a nutrient-rich substrate (like aquasoil) as it absorbs nutrients primarily through its roots.
-
Water Conditions: -
Temperature: 22–28°C (72–82°F)
-
pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (6.0–7.5)
-
Hardness: Soft to moderately hard water

-
Care Tips:
-
It’s sensitive to sudden changes in water parameters.
-
Like many Cryptocoryne species, it may undergo “Crypt melt” when moved to a new tank or subjected to shock — leaves die off temporarily but roots usually recover.
-
Keep algae in check, as the plant’s slow growth makes it susceptible to overgrowth.
