This is a creeping plant that grows on rocks, driftwood, etc. It thrives in dim light and likes warm temperatures. You should, however, be careful when purchasing this plant. There are many mosses tagged as Java, but many of them are not meant to be grown underwater. A good dealer will know the difference. The genus name for Java moss is Vesicularia Dubyana. Portion size is approximately 1/2 lb but may not be exact. We import this moss from overseas and it may be a little brown when received but in the right tank conditions it will green up in no time. We have had moss come in that was as brown and dry as could be that we thought was dead, but we threw it in a tank anyway and within about a month it was the nicest, green moss we ever had!
